Celebrates Independence Day With Red & White Fleet

Nothing is more spectacular than the San Francisco Bay illuminated with the4th of July fireworks. Passengers are welcome to enjoy up close views of the patriotic entertainment as well as the city’s night time skyline from aboard Red and White Fleet. Red and White Fleet’s historic ferry boats offer outdoor decks to view the show, as well as indoor spaces to warm up during the cool San Francisco evenings. A full bar is available onboard, with one beer, wine or soda included in the ticket price. Along with the fireworks, passengers also will see the illuminated city skyline and pass by such landmarks as the infamous island of Alcatraz. During and before the fireworks show, the cruise boats will be stationary to secure a good spot for viewing the show. There will be a total of four departures at 7:45pm and 8:15pm with estimated sailing times of about 2 ½ hours each.

Seamen's Memorial Chapel at Fisherman's Wharf


Just like clock work you can hear their melody every hour on the hour and every fifteen minutes in-between. It may not look like Big Ben or sound like St. Peter’s Basilica on Easter morning, but this modest little chapel draped amongst San Francisco’s historic fishing fleet, provides the sweet sound of its bells for all to hear. The Buena Vista — Home of the World’s First Irish Coffee


The original building where the Buena Vista sits today at the corner of Hyde and Beach streets was a boardinghouse until 1916 when the landlord converted the first floor into a saloon. That saloon was named the Buena Vista. (“Good View” in Spanish) and it served as a warm meeting place for hundreds of fishermen and handlers who worked for the nearby Sardine Cannery.
At Buena Vista, they could take in a whiskey while scouting the bay for incoming fishing boats. In 1952, with the help of a Pulitzer-Prize winning writer, the Buena Vista introduced to the world it’s now famous Irish Coffee. Read on…

In the Neighborhood...

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17 AT 6:00 P.M.

The Fisherman's Wharf Community Benefit District will once again join the St. Francis Yacht Club to present the oldest and largest lighted boat holiday parade on San Francisco Bay. More than 75 boats festooned with lights & holiday decorations will parade along the waterfront Friday, December 17, 2010 starting at 6:00pm.

A holiday tradition since 1994, this year's parade will include members of St. Francis Yacht Club, Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Fleet, Golden Gate Yacht Club, and the PIER 39 Marina. The parade route will begin at 6:00 pm just east of PIER 39.

Spectators can get a great view from the walkway along the Aquatic Park, PIER 39 Marina Green, and Crissy Field Beach. Restaurants along the Wharf will also offer a fantastic vantage point as well as traditional holiday menus.

The Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Fleet boats will stay lit until January 9, 2011. After the parade, viewing of these spectacular lights can be seen most prominently on Jefferson Street between Jones & Taylor Streets at the Sportfishing Harbor.
